A single-storey rear extension typically takes 10–14 weeks from groundworks to handover. Double-storey and wrap-around extensions take longer, and we give you a realistic programme in your written quote.
Many single-storey rear extensions fall under permitted development rules, subject to size limits and your property not being in a conservation area. Larger extensions, side returns beyond permitted limits, and homes in conservation areas usually need full planning permission. We assess this during your consultation and handle the application if needed.
If your extension involves work on or near a shared wall with a neighbouring property — common with East London terraces — you’ll likely need a party wall agreement under the Party Wall Act. We guide you through notifying neighbours and, where required, help coordinate a party wall surveyor.
